A quiz for photographers about photographic accessories:

A. Hats:

1. Meh. Take 'em or leave 'em. I've worn them at times, but it's not all that important. 1 point.
2. Oh, heck yeah. Essential. I have different hats for different settings. Floppy, ball cap, fedoras, driver's caps, you name it. 2 points.
3. No way. Never. People who wear hats all the time are dorks. 3 points.

B. Vests:

1. I can see their use, but I've never been too interested in them. 1 pt.
2. I love 'em. I have everything in my vest. It's so handy. 2 pts.
3. You gotta be kidding me. You'd never see one on me. It's embarrassing. 3 pts.

C. Nikon:

1. I'm a Canon person. To be honest, I don't know that much about Nikon. 1 pt.
2. Nikons are good cameras. Very comparable to Canon products. I personally like Canon better, but I have good friends that shoot Nikon. No problem. 2 pts.
3. Oh, c'mon. Get serious. I will kick you in the neck with a large shoe. 3 pts.

D. Bird Photography:

1. Ooo, I'm interested, but I've never got the hang of it. 1 pt.
2. I have a number of great shots of birds. I find it a vital part of my portfolio. 2 pts.
3. Oh, euphoria! I love to shoot birds! I could spend all day on a bird shoot, any time of year. 3 pts.

4-6 points: You're doing great. You have some room to grow in your photographic experience, but the potential is there!

7-10: You seem like a rational, well balanced and well dressed photographer. The world is your oyster.

11-12: Hi Chris. :D

LOL!

Got my fingers crossed. It does not show anything while it is working but does say it found 33 files so far. Still has 36 minutes to go.

Glad it is working so far!

Hiyas!

Jim it may be calling them .tif files because of some settings. If it pulled the files from the card and saved them to you computer you should be able to just change the file extension to .cr2 and it will be fine.

Woolburr wrote in post #8117213 (external link)
It calls the files .tif....let it run to completion....

I still think I did something wrong. This time it went a bit faster and found near 300 files, which sounds about right. I am copying them to a hard drive now. Most are TIF, but a couple are BMP and XLS. Here is a screen shot.

I finally processed the photos that I'm printing for the large frame that my parents gave us for Christmas. Took me long enough.

The frame has 6 holes, 5x7s and 4x6s, some portrait, some landscape, so my options were somewhat limited.
It's an 'old' wood style, shades of brown. Gorgeous. I'll photograph the whole frame when it's finished.

I wanted the photos in it to be subtle and blend, so that's why I processed them like this. :D

And another that I liked, but no room for it in the frame. I'll probably print it for a different frame.

Well, the program froze part way through copying the files to the hard drive, and I can't open the TIF files either. I tried in LR and PS to no avail.

PS error says "Could not complete your request because file-format module cannot parse the file".
LR says "The files use an unsupported color mode".

Dan will be along any moment to tell me if I am wrong or not.

Make a copy of the files that are now on your hard drive to so have something to use as a backup. LR and PS may not open the files because it thinks they are .tif files but since they are not it doesn't recognize the format. Try changing the file extension on one to .cr2 and then open in LR.

We have one member of our club that has taken it upon herself to scour the web every week for events that might have shooting potential. It's really handy...

http://www.sandiegodslr.com/?q=node/968 (external link)

Someone used to do that on the Texas photo forum I frequent...but they lost the habit of doing it. It was only like 3 things each weekend anyhow...and one of em was always the same. HOG meetings.

Mildly amusing linky....be warned....it's a link showing a pic of brides/grooms with painted on clothing. All the important bits are covered with real fabric though.

Try changing one of the .tif files to a .cr2 file and see if you can open it.
