What would work best is if you could find your SanDisk recovery disk....it seems to have better luck finding and make files that work.

Dan will be along any moment to tell me if I am wrong or not.

Make a copy of the files that are now on your hard drive to so have something to use as a backup. LR and PS may not open the files because it thinks they are .tif files but since they are not it doesn't recognize the format. Try changing the file extension on one to .cr2 and then open in LR.

Try changing one of the .tif files to a .cr2 file and see if you can open it.

No go. It did not actually show the file extension of .tif in explorer, but it did when I viewed the file properties.

I tried to use another program, and tried opening the XLS file in Excel, both said the file was corrupt.

I just dug out a Sandisk disk, and will give it a whirl.

I finally processed the photos that I'm printing for the large frame that my parents gave us for Christmas. Took me long enough.

Those are fantastic, Cat!!!! I really really love them!

BearLeeAlive wrote in post #8117271 (external link)
Well, the program froze part way through copying the files to the hard drive, and I can't open the TIF files either. I tried in LR and PS to no avail.

PS error says "Could not complete your request because file-format module cannot parse the file".
LR says "The files use an unsupported color mode".

Wish I knew how to help. :(

JIm in explorer go up to the tools menu and then folder options. From there find the check mark for "Show file extensions". Click on that and it will show the extension in explorer. Then hit F2 on the keyboard and you can change the extension. It will tell you that it is unsafe to change but just hit ok.

And truth be told. I have been telling everyone about your lemonade avi. The other day someone actually said they were going to make lemonade and I go all cool when I had to tell them the rest of the story.

Night Robert.

Ok, I am officially confused. There is no tools menu in Windows Explorer that I can see.

I'm sorry are you in XP or Vista?

In Vista it is Organize/Folder Options/View and then turn off the "hide known extensions" button.

In XP in the menu bar go to Tools/Folder options/View and then turn off "hide known extensions" button.

Edited see above.
