it works.

Um. no. Sorry. LOL! Tis the scent they don't seem to like

Nuts. I'll stick to my deetbuster oil then, I guess. Still makes me sneeze a little, but its nearly foolproof so far, so....(tis a natural blend of essential oils)

Turns out Lois washed the bedding today. We're having a standoff to see who breaks down first and makes the bed. I'm hiding in the office.

lol

What is my excuse for being scatterbrained at times?

You're a furmom, and a woman. We have all these men to take care of...how in the world are we to remember everything? ;)

I had a very bad dream shortly after Ashley died in which I watched her drown in a river without trying to help her. It was quite a while before I slept well again after that.

:( That really stinks. I tend to have a recurring dream too, but its a home invasion one and no one can stop my kids being harmed. I hate it. Especially when I'm here alone and don't sleep that fab anyway.

Belmondo wrote in post #8178850 (external link)
Please don't give us a hard time, Jon. We west-coasters are having a hard time dealing with all our recent losses, Michael, Farrah, and Ed. The big question now is, when will they start showing up in my dreams?

Howdy girl, what's on the agenda for today?

Went to the farmer's market, got some apple maple sausage made by an Amish guy as well as some fresh veggies...came home and cleaned up the bathroom trash that the dog had drug around the house (NASTY, I tell you) and I fully intend on napping before I make the bed and stuff. Beyond that, hopefully not a dang thing. Except I know that won't be true.

Just booked next flights for India 13th July to 29th Aug. This time its Monsoon time

Wow, neat. What is the purpose of your trip, or is it a pleasure trip? I really can't wait to see your pics.

sevillafox wrote in post #8178977 (external link)
Dang. That sucks. WOOHOO on the canvas though!

Also had a good talk with MIL. She highly suggests we do not remodel as Corey is not a doer and we will probably still be remodeling 10 years from now.

I am thinking she's right. Very right. Blah as well.

Yeah, I'll live on the little bit of sleep. Blah to the talk with MIL, but at least she was honest and open and you guys had a good talk. What if you "offered" to take charge of the reno plans, within a budget?

eddarr wrote in post #8179060 (external link)
Tiff I think you should remodel. I know it is a pain but you can't buy what an old house gives you.

I agree as far as character and stuff. I would love to have an older house than ours is. They're just so....cool.

Ok, I'm here and there a bit again....nothing much interesting. Did you know that tomorrow is apparently backyard campout day? Didn't know it was a national thing. Funny thing is, Blondie is planning to camp out with her PawPaw tonight, and maybe tomorrow night. I'm excited. Next year Toddler should be old enough to do backyard campouts too!

Deet is a repellant to me as it is to the mozzies!

My last trip to India was the first time I have ever been bothered by them, and that was only one evening when I was sitting out by a pool by myself. Even when I was in the army we would spend a night in a swamp and my colleagues would emerge in the morning with heads like beach balls and I was untouched. I guess my blood just tastes really bad.

Work I am afraid, but will be taking a week off at the end and Teresa will be coming out for her first taste of the Indian subcontinent.

I cant decide between the Himalayas or Kerala

I'm going to try this Bounce thing because I too do not like slathering myself with Deet, but I've been poking around on the web and it's not looking probising. Snopes even slams it. http://www.snopes.com/oldwives/skeeters.asp (external link)

*shrug* Like I said, it works for me, and some of my family. Try it, if it works, great!

For mossies I do nothing but swat them, or wear protective clothing. Mostly, their bites don't bother me at all, much less then the obnoxious repellents. If they really want my tainted blood, let 'em have it. :p

LOL!

I'm not a fan of Deet either, but so far it's the only thing that works for me. My wife and i take the furkid out for a walk right around sunset in the woods and the mosquotos are more than an anoyance.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I just discovered one other thing suffering from the downturn in the economy, and the fact we are doing way less work then past years. My travel points aren't building up near as fast as they used to, because we are not paying for as much materials through the credit card in order to build them up. I haven't paid for air travel, rental cars or a motel room in years. I guess I will just have to stick to camping with my trailer, or canoe, for a bit then. :D

Given this reasoning, I think renovating may not be the best thing. A poorly done job may help with your lifestyle, but will not add value to the home, and in fact may devalue it some. Besides, there would also be the added marital stress to think about too.

Exactly, there's enough stress the way it is.

I'm not really mad at her. More grateful this time for pointing out what I already knew. And, no, Corey asked me to draw out what I wanted to do, said thanks, and said this is what we're going to do.

I love the character of the house. Hate the fact that upstairs is 10 degrees warmer at all times than downstairs and that the AC and heat bring funky smells up from the basement. Oh, and the crappy, leaky windows.

And, Ian seems to have developed a rash now. Doc says to quite the antibiotics.

One would have 18,001 years to save up then. :p

I likely have enough for that too, as I haven't cashed in for about 4 months, but when we were real busy it was rising at a real fast pace, enough to take kids places.

I would absolutely love to meet up with you in India. Who knows, some day it could happen. :D

I hate the way DEET feels on my skin. And, after seeing the damage the stuff did to the plastic on an old Olympus camera of mine after I held it a while in my DEET soaked hand on a hike a few years ago, I decided I'd rather take a chance on the skeeters.

I try to just avoid their territory. But, if I have to share their space, I'll just put my head net on:

IMAGE: http://www.ldphotography.net/eeHikes/images/medium/20050615_29.jpg
If I was in skeeter country I'd also keep my shirt sleeves rolled down to give them as little farmland as possible to graze on. But, in that pic I was more concerned about these freakin' gnat-like flies that infest our local mountains in the spring. Those flies love to attack eyes, or try to get inside mouths -- anywhere they can find moisture.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Some people swear by it and others at it....but Avon Skin So Soft works for me. A little dab of that and the bugs pretty much avoid me.

Woo Hoo!!

We were taking a client out for lunch today at my favorite Mexican restaurant. The client just called and canceled, so now I get to have lunch with just my wife.

I love it when I can belch and chew with my mouth open.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
