Well, it's been an awfully long time since I've posted anything here. Been utterly consumed with work, and haven't been out shooting more than a dozen times this year. I'm rusty! Had some friends in town and got out for about three days of good shooting, and here are a few from then. C&C greatly appreciated - gotta hone my skills before heading to Europe for the summer!

1. "Objet a."
Canon 5D Mark II, 50mm f/1.8; f/8, 1/800, 1/3200, 1/200; ISO 100
Processing: HDR in Photoshop plus a little bit of editing.
Location: Empire-Fulton State Park, Brooklyn NY
Inspiration: that which is perpetually just out of reach.

2. "Boathouse Row After Sunset"
Canon 5D Mark II, Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 @ 16mm; f/7.1, 30s; ISO 100
Processing: Color edit in Lightroom, sharpening in Photoshop.
Location: West River Drive, Philadelphia PA
Inspiration: time-spanning beauty.

3. "Memorial"
Canon 5D Mark II, 24-105mm f/4L @ 24mm; f/4, 1/60; ISO 100
Processing: Sharpening, curves, partial desaturation in Photoshop.
Location: Vietnam Wall Memorial, Washington, D.C.
Inspiration: respect for my predecessors, who put aside their own views, answering their country's call to fight an unpopular war.

4. "HDR From the Top of the World"
Canon 5D Mark II, 24-105mm f/4 @ 28mm; f/8, 30s, 20s; ISO 50 (L)
Processing: HDR in Photomatix, sharpening and curves in Photoshop.
Location: Empire State Building, New York NY
Inspiration: "Flashing Lights" by Kanye West. At least, that was stuck in my head at the time.

#4 is a great HDR.
I would remove the plane trails personally, also seems like it could do with a slight counter-clockwise rotation. Hard to say with the horizon... Hmm.

Love the beam of light coming from the one building on the right :)
It really is on top of the world!

I thought about that, but looking more, I think it's actually stars. Hard to tell, since we don't see too many of them with the naked eye here... Even still, I agree it would be better without. Thanks!

Definitely agree on the plane trails, since the laps is so obvious with that. I think you're right on the rotation also -- even if the horizon is hard to tell, a good benchmark might be to pull out the vertical ruler and plumb the center buildings by it... Thanks!!

I really like HDR pics and I REALLY like these. my Favorite is the top of the world. Just to clarify I think the stars and dust spots were misinterpreted so me being bored took the liberty of pointing them out. Very easy for me to see as no matter how hard I try I can never seam to have clean glass.

My save for web really dumped the quality on that first one to wear you can't see them on my repost but if you use that as your guide you should be able to spot them just fine.
