They're offering to repair it for free starting at the end of May. Read it here (external link).

Sounds like they need time to figure out the fix. This is a good start.

I think they've already figured out the fix. I think they need time to ramp up the resources to handle the onslaught.

Boy, will drisley ever feel justified now! Let's just hope this turns out to be a real and permanent solution to the problems so many here have been having.

They have unofficially been fixing them for free for some time now. I got mine fixed two months ago.

I've heard, but this is still a big admission by Canon.

Wonder how this affects grips that are on resellers shelves, whether they'd be recalled or just sold and the purchaser gets to send it in for repair?

Megapixels and high ISO are a digital photographers heroin. Once you have a little, you just want more and more. It doesn't stop until your bank account is run dry.

Oh wow, I thought it was fixed already. I better cancel my order for it before B&H starts shipping again in a few days.

Edit: Does anyone know when to expect a new grip for sale?

I finally sent my grip in on Wednesday for repair. I'll be curious to see if there is any difference in my repair and the "official" repair. I miss it already

I have the grip on my 20D, and have never observed a problem. This could be because I've used the camera very little, so I'm thinking I'll make it a point to put some miles on it in the next couple weeks to see if any problems surface. I just got a hand strap for it, and the lack of it has been one of the reasons I haven't been using it.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!
