All this talk of names is giving me some great ideas for the baby. :)

Seth would like either Bat Man Deming, or Bruce Wayne Deming. He also suggested Logan Wolverine Deming.

You should definitely avoid "Wayne" as a middle name. "Wayne" is the most common middle name among murderers in the U.S., with more than twice as many "Waynes" as any other middle name.

If you're interested in naming him after cartoon characters, you should probably avoid naming him Big Barnsmell Deming, since ol' Barnsmell was the infamous "inside man at the skonk works." He had a really difficult time with iterpersonal relationships.

But then, what's in a name, "Seth" was the name of Adam and Eve's third son, after Able was killed and Cain driven out. Seth means "substitute," since he was a replacement for Able.

Surely your Seth is not a substitute for anyone (like that buff football player you had a crush on in high school).

'Wayne' is also a common middle name for amputees (external link).

I dunno, Iron Man Deming has a ring to it.

Or you could warm his bottles with the microwave door open and call him Bruce Banner Deming.

Just don't blame me when he gets cranky and his diaper rips to shreds.

Why do I feel like I am being picked on? Or at least my name is being picked on? And for the record Wayne is a perfectly good name, especially as a first name.

Here in Scotland a 'wain' is a shortening of 'wee ane' or 'wee one' meaning 'little one'. The theory (ok, my theory) is that when we Scots spread across the globe after the highland clearances (look it up) the name for a child morphed into ' Wayne'. Popular in Australia and the U.S.
You're not being picked on Little One;)

I have been told that the derivation of the name Wayne comes from Wainwright, one who makes or repairs wagons.

Now that's something I'd have to have details on. The sheer physical limits on that would be interesting.
