Thanks so much for all the advice! I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. I have a bit of time to make my final decision. I'll be sure to let you all know whether I get it or not!

Beside, Gitmo has far too many jarheads.

Sorry, no such thing as "too many" jarheads.

Its like saying too many lenses... Simply doesn't compute.

I've put the word on the cat grapevine. You WILL be contacted.

Now that really says a lot about you. You are, of course, entitled to your opinion, though I will say that it is not an opinion shared by everyone.

@ Chrissy: Personally, I wouldn't spend "tight money" on any hobby.

I read your post as: "While the money is there now, the future is possibly questionable..."

Good, clean 5DCs will be around for a while and having a 30D and 7D under the same roof is really quite a bit of photographic firepower. Save your money for now. ;)

I've had many, many cats in my household over the last 50 years.

And not a single jarhead.

Hmmm....

Chrissy, I keep reading the pros and cons. The devils on both my shoulders keep arguing too. :D

The financial professional in me says NO, save for the baby's college.
The greedy brat in me says NO, let ME buy it.
The devil in me that likes to egg people on says YES, but it. You shoot weddings, professionally, it's a tool. You need it.

Shooting off two frames from a 5D was all it took to hook me on getting a Canon. I ended up with the 40D though....which is still more camera than I need!

Helpful, eh? LOL

Babys college - plenty of time to worry about that later!

Are you likely to take more weddings on? If so then buy it. If its more for hobby work, keep the money.

Or donate the money to me and i will look after it!

Here where I live, wild rabbits are populous and reproduce at a high rate. They come out mostly at night, and it can feel creepy sometimes when you are walking alone outside at night, say, from your friend's apartment back to where you parked, and you encounter two dozen bunnies on the way, all staring at you... Due to their numbers, they also become road kill pretty often. Maybe composting rabbits would be good usage of these road kill carcasses.

No doubt true, but given the current global state of affairs more is definitely better than fewer when it comes to jarheads. You think PITA is going to do anything meaningful about the chaos in the Middle East?

Yup.

The world renowned steady British diet of boiled food is bound to affect stamina and mental acuity.

Its OK, feel free to ring up the Big O when you need a hand.

I'm sure after he's had sufficient time to review the situation he'll make the decision the polls recommend.
