I found myself painting a buddy's house last weekend in Sacramento and decided to extend my stay... I stopped in over at the California State Railway Museum in Sacramento and shot this HDR. They didn't allow tripods (and I didn't bother hauling it out of my trunk!), so I put together this 3 exposure HDR all hand held.

More info on my photo blog @ www.anvilimage.com (external link).... well, only a little...

Love the colours, great shot! The shadows make the photo much more interesting!

Looks awesome !.. Ive never been to the railroad museum. In photomatics , dont they have an aligning option if your shots are slightly off ....

Thanks for the comments!

Msclman99: I try to really lock up my body and hold my breath when I shoot one of these hand held. Also, I put the shutter on high speed continuous mode and just fire off a quick 3 image burst after I lock in the focus. I was actually a little disappointed in processing because I don't think that it's as sharp as others that I've gotten hand held. Tripod night HDR's are my favorite!

BTW: I use the technique Joe Mcnally demonstrates in this video, but I'm right-eyed.

Vndcatr: Yes, photomatix is supposed to line up the images, but it's not perfect and on the longest of the bracketed shots, exposures times can get a little long. For instance, the longest exposure for this bracket was 1/4 second.

Thanks again!

Excellent shot Joe. Big iron is one of the things Photomatix was made for. :)
