I grew up around rattlesnakes and since getting back into photography have been trying to get a good shot of one of these guys. I got a couple last year but they were late in the day and light wasn't that good. I lived in Lethbridge for about 20 years and go back there often. It was not that uncommon to have people complaining about them in their yard. It was common for people to take out the shovel and do the obvious. Now they are protected and have a park dedicated to them.

I did go walking here but it was a bit early in the season and all I could come up with is this sign:

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Lethbridge is a very nice town. When I was there a few years ago, I saw no signs of rattlesnakes. I'm surprised they can survive in that climate.

I don't like 'em!! But.... if you want to see a bunch of them, go to the "Rattlesnake Roundup" in Sweetwater, Texas, U.S.A. I did hunt them down there one time. They were bringing $12.75 per pound (alive). Me and a friend of mine got $325.00 for the ones we captured. I know.. I
know....animal rights and all that stuff.

I take Ashley for a four mile hike in Griffith Park every day. During the hike we pass a few signs warning of rattlesnakes and mountain lions. It's never stopped me. :D I haven't see any mountain lions yet, but I have seen rattlesnakes up there a couple times. Once, a very small baby rattler slithered across the trail right in front of us. Late last summer I saw a huge one coiled up next to the trail sunning himself.

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

I wish I had a nickel for every rattlesnake that I have either seen or heard within the last three months. In one nearby park, we have "Old Buzzy" who comes out on his favorite trail for hikers.

I have had my share of them, and always give them a wide berth. The ones I'm not that fond of where I live are the copperheads. never a warning and they at times become very terratorial and will hold there ground. Luckly there are not that many.

Me big city boy. Me run from rattlesnakes.

Actually, if I ever came near a rattlesnake, I'd expect my last words would be "Stupid baby is going to scare the heron, I know it...."

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.
