This was my first attempt at an Air Show. While I understand the importance of prop blur, I also had to have an argument with the '1 over rule' when dealing with 400mm lengths. 1/250 is ideal for the props, but difficult to get keepers at 400mm. I caved in and settled on some 1/400 shutters to mitgate the circumstances.

And to all you owners of huge gimble mounted white lenses.... I get it now. The IQ of my hand held 70-200 with a 2x converter are no where near what you guys regularly produce. These shots will impress my friends, but they are not near the quality that I would like to have. Looks like its time to spend....again...

# 1 is quite good , great colors exposure and clarity. The T-bird shots are also good but the whites are a bit blown out but for a first time you did great ...well done .

Good ones.

1/250 is ideal for the props, but difficult to get keepers at 400mm.

Marauder61 shot the first one at 1/320 w/a 500mm, so it's possible.

More great stuff Todd!! I had the same issue with the whites being a bit hot on the Thunderbirds. I still can't get over the sharpness on that first shot being at 1/250 handheld and a non IS lens. Great technique there. Thanks for the recommend on the site. --Bill--
