More info | Jun 07, 2009 21:41 | #4 Ok I want to learn to take shots like this, with my gear listed below can I get this type of shot with adding a Canon 25mm ex. tube? I am new to macro and need advice. I like the specs on the Tamron 90mm macro and the Canon 100mm macro, but will my 85mm with an ex tube do the trick of getting me close? What about my 17-55 it is the closest focusing lens I have maybe the tube would put me up close and personal with that one.

Oh one more thing, does Canon's 25mm ex tube decrease IQ at all? Tubes have no glass element so don't affect image quality. But I think you'll need more than 25mm to get this Magnification. Peter

About the only way you will get the magnification with the equipment you have would be to get a body/lens reversing ring for your 18-55 lens and use it at about 30mm zoom- this will give you approx 3:1 magnification. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lordv/
