My daughter, 3, had her first dance recital Saturday evening. Dance has been a bit of a struggle for everyone. She never really took to it. I think it was a little on the boring side for her (even though she loves music and loves to dance). She's also in gymnastics where's she gets to run, jump, tumble, climb, etc and she really enjoys that.

Anyway, I was very nervous about the recital. Had we not already purchased the rather expensive costume, we probably would've skipped it. In the end, I'm really happy we didn't. She had 3 dances, spread out over almost THREE hours. She did extremely well on the first two dances, leading the girls out onto stage and busting a pretty good move. The third dance, the one that was her favorite, didn't go as well. It was already an hour plus passed her normal bedtime. All of the girls started coming out on stage, but she was no where to be found. :( Eventually I saw her teacher drop her on the far side, but she ended up behind a taller group of girls. While that was a little disappointing, I was still extremely proud of her! She did way better than I ever expected her to.

I almost lost it when she came out on stage the first time! Argh!

So, some shots from that evening... Thanks for looking!

She is definitely a precious little one. Nice series. Really like 3 and 4.

LOL Jeremy! I know how you feel!

Very cute photos. I can't believe the recital was 3 hours! That is entirely too long for kids that age. My daughter does good to get through 1 hour of soccer! And it took several weeks of "training" to get to that point.

Yes - it was way too long (and 2 nights, though the wee ones only had to be there 1 night). I think there were something like 40 performances total... but she was only in 3 of them. Half of them should've been cut for sure! It's cute when the little kids try to dance and you know fail adorably. Not so much when it happens to teens and adults :)

Of course they scheduled her final dance to be SECOND TO LAST. There was no bailing early :)
