The guy made a point, why are you hounding him?

50% of the people that answered the poll didn't know what lens it was, there fore 50% of the people that answered the poll would have no idea what lens to use to either get a similar picture, or avoid a similar picture. Yet they would happily take the picture and be proud of it.

enginyr i think if you read the topic:
Perspective Control in Images - Focal Length or Distance? (a tutorial)
you can retry the experiment with better result. ;)

In this way you may get more satisfaction.

For me the distortions of the face were obvious.

Note:
When creating the survey specify the time limit for votes.

Well my point is that the idea behind what someone THINKS the focal lens of a lens was when a photo was taken completely stupid and arbitrary.

If we had the subject in real life in front of us than shown a picture of the same subject and ask "what FL was used?" Ok, I can give you a good guess without that original "base" information or something to give it a perspective, there is no point.

It's like asking how tall the a tree is from a picture with nothing else in the image to give you perspective.

"Remember that focal length does not cause distortion. Being very close to your subject does"
