Ha thanks, it's a Capitol MX-II (35mm). I picked it up yesterday for $2 complete with manual, cap, strap and case. Maybe I'll get some lomo goodness out of these 4 rolls that expired in 2004.

It features creaky plastic construction, four scene modes from cloudy to sunny (f5.6-f16), a fixed shutter and focus, and the best thing about it... a 50mm "Optical Lens" as opposed to the other kind - says so right on the front!

I gather that these are the same cameras Time magazine used to give away with subscriptions.

I just took my new 5DmkII for its first shoot. Since I've been using a XTi for the past 2 1/2 years, I had problems with the mkII:

I couldn't get quickly to the controls I needed, which button/knob do I press, I NEVER looked at the LCD on top of the body, I had trouble using the spot metering, why are there more than one photo shown on the rear LCD, top wheel or back wheel. And this even AFTER I read the manual.

I'll always give "beginners" a break since I've gone through the same things they are going through.

Now, as for the truly stupid, that's another story

Virtually any aperture with the focus set at the hyperfocal distance or greater.

Hey, "infinity" is, well, infinite!

I will go my whole life learning about cameras and probably only get 1/2 as good as most people on here now (no joke) I am a slow learner and do not devote enough time

I was at Canon Irvine a couple of weeks ago and I was somewhat amused when I saw a mother describe her problem - she was in "running man mode" when the camera malfunctioned.

Sole reliance on auto modes bothers me a twange because you can push the camera so much more: 1600 ISO! Go! Even me, a P-mode JPEG shooter, vastly prefer my 20D shots @ 1600 ISO over my SX110 shots @ 200 ISO.
