Bought collar on way to pick her up, put it on, and decided Canon on the spot EOS R6’ / 1D X / 1D IV (and the wife has a T4i)

RPCrowe Cream of the Crop More info Post edited over 3 years ago by RPCrowe. (2 edits in all) | My Goldendoodle has a coat very much like Louie with deep set eyes that are recessed in back of some pretty heavy eyebrows... This will brighten the eyes a bit but more importantly will add catch lights to her eyes. However, if I used direct flash, her eyes would get that blue glow like peoples red eyes... Without flash - no catchlights in eyes - eyes look deadIMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …Zack_0663-X3.jpg&lb=1&s=A With diffused flash - eyes brighter with catchlights - they look more alive... Of course having shorter hair in this image helps too! IMAGE LINK: https://photos.smugmug.com …O/Holly_6386.jpg&lb=1&s=A See my images at http://rpcrowe.smugmug.com/

They can be a challenge and also make it hard to focus on them. I use a Rogue Flash Bender just as you describe instead of the Demb Flip It, but I didn't have my flash on last night when trying out the telephoto lens. The Flashbender is great as are numerous third party diffuser reflectors that are available on eBay and other sites. BTW: I shoot all of my dog portraits in the horizontal (landscape) position because I often need to do calendars from those images. That also solves the flash placement problem. Hand held with Camera IBIS and Lens OSS on... Original looks sharp at 200% and Molly is separated a bit from the BG - even at the slow aperture of f/6.3...
