here's a couple from this past Sunday, my first shoot with a model. Quite different than shooting birds and wildlife! But also quite fun!
The first pic I used a Vivitar 383 flash off camera left triggered by Cactus V2s and second one was just on camera flash.

Hi mate,

Really nice shots you have there!

Just a thought - in the first image you can see the harsh line of the flash on the tree behind the model on her right side. As you had mentioned that you used OC flash, you may like to next time move the flash further to your left, and maybe try a diffuser to lessen the shadow line.

But still, great shots!

Ken.

Nice scenario on the first (and if you lowered a few stems of grass - maybe with some stones to keep them down - which covers part of the footing, even better.

Nice also the second.

The rest for the flash It was said by kencas.

The clothing does not fit the environment. Not enough subject isolation (background is competing with subject). Distortion in the second is not flattering. Plus the stuff mentioned above. Over all not bad for a first time.

Thanks all for your comments and c&c, it will help me to take better shots next time! kencas, I see what you mean by moving the light further to the left, I wanted to shoot thru a white umbrella on this shot but the wind would not co operate on this day. Overall I am happy with the way they came out, although they do seem to have lost a little IQ when resized and uploaded through photobucket.

Hey John! Great images =) As everyone had already said. Keep your subject isolated. Its your best friend when you do portraits at Wilrogers Park ^_-

Erm, #1 I don't like her feet behind the grass. I like #2 I just wish she had more of an expression.
