This is really sad to hear. Perhaps we could get them to create a special POTN drop off center where they actually do the work or at least have a fella show US how to do it with their tools.

My phone experience with issues related to loading and recognizing the 1D and software was great, I felt like they thought I had bought the camera that very day.
Thats a tough break.

Unfortunately today this is seeming to be getting more commonplace with items.:(

And of course in your case what is the ultimate final repair procedure to correct the problem?
they were supposed to clean the excess oil from the shutter, sensor and the light box (or whatever it's called). i'll know next time i use the camera if the service was performed satisfactorily....but at this point i have my doubts :D.

Lakeshore drive is the main drag by Sanders Beach and that is part of the "run course"......so you are probably going to be walking around a lot. It's a small downtown core - that's doable.

cool...as long as my wife runs by a couple of times i'm covered ... and not moving too much ;).

I was at IM CDA 2 years ago for work, and on Sunday it will be very tough to drive around the downtown area. You have both the bike and run courses covering a large part of the downtown area which results in a lot of road closures and road blocks. On the plus side, it's only a problem on race day and if you're interested in shooting the bike and/or run, there's plenty of places to shoot both from as the courses overlap for a good portion of the run course. The swim is tougher as the crowds line up early and where they come out of the water and run into the transition area is blocked off for press only.

that's what i figured. i finally read the fine print to the house we rented.....

Walk to IRONMAN event in 20 minutes. Walk to resort and downtown in 15 to 20 minutes. Beach is across the street.

my wife just sent me the maps to the event and it looks like both the bike and run legs pass right by the house.

i'll have to walk to the swim. it's my wife's worst event so it should be pretty clear by the time she emerges for transition :D. cool. looks like we are in an excellent spot.

I found the management of the customer service department to be somehow rude and defensive. What worked well is when they were contacted by the BBB on my behalf. All of sudden they changed their tone to very pleasant, asked for my gear one more time and finally after the 4th attempt it was fixed properly.
By the way take pictures of what you send as if you dealt with a scammer on e-bay. It will be impossible to prove that that scratch over the whole lens was not there before you sent it in.

This maybe off topic but my 5d (mkI) had a visit with canon nj 4 times. Same problem each time the power cable would fall out. You would think the 2nd time it happened they could fix it. Needless to say 8 weeks of the camera going to canon, me getting it opening the box and putting the camera back in box to have them fix it, yes came to me not working 4 time! Now I have Mark II, problem fixed by me and $2600

:D My goodies

Set your F stop to 22 and shoot a picture of the sky. It will reveal if you have a dirty sensor or not. Most likely you will see some sort of dark spots on your pictures.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I have a question:

If half-ass service is bad, which is the good service - full-ass or no-ass? And would quarter-ass be better or worse service than half-ass?

Just wondering.
