I'm debating whether or not to keep my 10-22. I recently took the plunge and purchased a 5D Mark II. In anticipation of its arrival I also purchased at 17-40. I opted not to get the 16-35 because I never really used the 10-22 indoors where I needed a wide aperture. If you were in my situation would you keep the 10-22 to use on the 50D or would you just shoot wide with the 5DII and 17-40? Thanks for your input.

I see no reason not to use the 5DII for whatever you can, so I'm saying 17-40.

Looks like the 10-22 might have to go. I'm actually keeping the 50D for sports. I haven't actually had the opportunity to shoot with the 5DII + 17-40 as the 5DII arrived today. The battery is charging as I type this.

I sold my 10-22 and bought the 17-40 for the 5D. Not because I think the 17-40 is better but the 5D certainly is. The 17-40 does have better color and contrast but, again, that is more the 5D than the lens. (I tried the 10-22 on the 5D at 15-22 and it wowed me).

I see the 40D's usefullness when I need 6 fps, which is fairly rare and never, in the past, with the 10-22, athough I do see some scenarios where I would use it in HS. Also if I need more reach than the 70-200 gives me on the FF.

Actually I don't see me having the 40D by the end of the summer but I'm holding out to see if I actually use it, at times. If not, it's outta here.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.

hmh, in my opinion, i would keep using 10-22mm on 50d (i have it on 40d).
that's a very good lens. very sharp (usually i use it from f/5.6-f/16 for indoor/outdoor).
cheers :D

I'd keep the 17-40L, unload the 10-22, and buy the Sigma 20mm f/1.8. In fact, that's just what I did! :D

(Well, actually, it was the Sigma 10-20 that I sold.)

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

I know 10-22 is a very good lens. I see no reason to keep a lens that does NOT work on all of your camera body, and the lens itself does NOT offer much over 17-40L on FF.
