G6 - weird noise - is this normal?

I just upgraded from my G3 to a G6 but when I got home and turned it on (I didn't notice in the shop as the ambient noise level was higher) it seems to make a weird crumpling noise (its a bit difficult to describe but almost like paper being scrunched up) in addition to the usual whining of the servos as the lens extends. Whilst operating its fine but when you shut it down it does the same again. My G3 doesn't make this noise at all so I'm wondering if this is normal or should I take it straight back to the shop?

I got a G6 a couple of months ago. No noise as you describe. It sounds like the gears are mashing on something on yours. :(

Mine doesn't make much of a noise either. I don't know if yours is normal with a new camera, perhaps something will smoothen out through use. I would observe it for a couple of days, and if it persists I 'd return it for an exchange. Just be sure you are still within the exchange time frame.

Thanks guys. I took it back and they agreed that it didn't sound too healthy so they've ordered me a replacement. Much happier now :)
