As the title says really, I was wondering if there was a quick and easy way to tell what version of firmware is installed on my G10 and wether I need to update. Is the answer somewhere within the menu I wonder?

Thanks, Glyn.

Generally you can found this type of information in your manual or on the productor website.

go onto the cannon web site and follow the firmware section, you have to put the serial number into the part and it will tell you what version in in your G10

Issue: How do I check the firmware version?
Solution: Checking the firmware version on a PowerShot G10.

You can check the version of firmware currently installed in the camera by following these steps:
Power the camera on in the

IMAGE: http://usa.canon.com/app/images/service_ware/LDImages/SolutionAnswer/General_Digital_Camera/PlaybackButtonBlue.gif
(Playback) mode.
Press and hold the <FUNC./SET> button.
While holding the <FUNC./SET> button press the <DISP.> button.
The current firmware version will show on the display screen.

Same procedure with the G9...but I don't think there's ever been an update....it should read....1.0.0.0 something like that....

I guess Canon figured with the G9, they had it right the first time....

Yes, same procedure for the G9. StreetShooter is right... Firmware for the G9 is 1.0.0.0 and no updates are available from the Canon website.
