So you manage to pick up an old pair of binoculars in a junk shop and take them home. They are dusty and clearly well used. You reach for a rag and start to rub. They're cleaning up nicely.

Then 'pop' and it's the wildlife genie in camo hot-pants and waistcoat. She grants you just three dream wildlife viewings, each lasting for 20 minutes. She explains that the creatures will be oblivious to your presence and you will have the light and gear you need.

Which three animals, birds, reptiles, fish, whatever would you love to see and photograph if you had your three viewings granted?

For me it would be:

Polar Bear
Mountain Gorilla
Desert Elephant

Yeah, good selection. I thought about the Grizzly. Emperor Penguin is a good one too.

When I was stationed at Bella Coola, British Columbia. There was a celebrity photographer who showed us his "catch". An Albino black bear.

Mountain Sheep a very interesting choice. Would make a great photo in its habitat.

I saw Humpbacks in NZ but terrible weather and most people terribly sea-sick. my first truly wild Cheetah last year spotted on the POTN Safari ... three of them. Great thrill for all and the shutter sounds were really something. Olli saw them first on an early game drive.

Color me boring. I prefer the local wildlife. My three:

1. Black Bear -- in all the countless hours I've spent in their habitat I've only seen a single one, a very young one, as it darted across the road in front of my car as I pulled up to the trailhead parking lot for a hike in 2005. The whole encounter lasted maybe 5 seconds. I wanted more.
2. Bighorn (mountain) Sheep -- Again, I've only seen them once in the wild while hiking in their territory, but they were too far away to get any decent pictures using the gear I had with me at the time. I want another chance.
3. Kitteh -- My youngest cat. She's a wild one, honestly! ;) I want to see what she does when I'm not home. And, if those binoculars show me what the dog and other two cats are doing, even better!

But, if those don't qualify, I'd go with:
Bald Eagle
Great Horned Owl (a single one in particular, even)
Meerkats

My name is Lonnie, but I answer to Thomas too.

Weird but great choices Daros ... Piranha are very glamorous - the big, red ones at least. I got an Amur Leopard in my Avatar. beautiful animal. Shame it could be extinct in the next ten years or so :(

Panties ... trust you to go all homey on us  Still those are good, meaningful choices. Meerkats are very cool.

Definitely agree with polar bear and mountain gorilla. For the third... Emperor Penguins (in Antarctica).

Nice topic, but I'd have too many wishes to boil down to three!

The bald eagle has been something I've always wanted to get quality shots of. They live in the area, but you rarely see them close enough to get good shots. I don't have a 1200 yet:)!

Wow, so few options on so many choices -?

I hope we get to travel to the venue, and it is not just a POP in  To visit the locale is almost as important as the shooting.

Grizzly Bear, though Polar Bear is right in there too.
Killer Whale pod, breaching required.
Meercats. Just so much fun to watch.

And then beg shamelessly for more

Great question! Hard to narrow down to three but:

1. Albatross.
2. Birds of Paradise.
3. Family of Weasels.
