Had a cracking day at this event yesterday watching some of the old masters [and one of the UK's young talents] going through their paces.

I'd taken some shots at Wimbledon last year shortly after getting into DSLR photography and wanted to try my hand now I've got more of an idea of what I'm doing.

Anyhow, here's a string of pictures I took.

Mikael Penfors serving [I love the deformity in the ball at the time of contact]

Morocco's Younes El Aynaoui

Cedric Pioline serving

Greg Rusedski

Laura Robson, 2008 Wimbledon girls' champion and wild card entrant for this year's ladies tournament

and her opponent, Olga Savchuk

Mansour Bahrami playing trick shots in the men's doubles

with his partner, the legendary Ilie Nastase

as they took on Peter McNamara [In more ways than one!] and Anders Jarryd

IMAGE: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2430/3626341832_7678a4ed0a_o.jpg

And finally the last match we watched featured the big-serving Richard Krajicek

IMAGE: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2435/3626344344_6d010ed628_o.jpg

who took on former world number 1, Mats Wilander

All taken on my 450D with the 70-210 except the Krajicek shot for which I got when I tried using the 75-300 for a few shots to see how bad it was [the other shots did come out pretty soft but this one made the cut for some reason].

Feedback very welcome.

I did a double-take when viewing the 6th picture in your first post... that's amazing how you froze the ball inside of the circles in the background graphics!

I did a double take too haha.

Great photos. I like some the way they are, but I think I'd like to see a tighter crop on a few of them, like in 4, 5, 6, & 11

Thanks guys.

Yeah, could crop a little tighter on some of these, or perhaps a square crop rather to remove some dead space, but most have already been cropped down from the full size image.

That makes 3 of us re the ball in the circle, I had to check on another shot to make sure that it wasn't simply part of the sign's graphics!
