Hello POTN members - a friend recommended your site to me. I am a recreational photographer getting back in the SLR scene with a Nikon D40.

Here are a few pictures I have taken recently. I am looking to improve my skills and do more manual shooting. I look forward to the discussions

The little boy is very nice. I think it would have worked just as well cropped to a portrait format. Looks like the exposure is right on, and that the lighting is quite diffuse.

Welcome to the POTN - you've come to the right place.

Thank you. I was trying to follow the 1/3 format. I do have a cropped version on my drive.

This was full Auto with my Nikon.

Troll bw!

Sorry but why would a Nikon user join a Canon forum and mention his Nikon twice in two posts in the same thread?

If he showed up here, there must be some redeeming qualities.

Who knows, he might become a convert, if we treat him kindly!

I agree - He even seems a genuine guy. I looked at some of his pictures on Flickr.

He has the makings of a Canon convert and doesn't look too far down the Nikon route to turn back. ;)

Come on JoeLopez, you can do it - we're with you.

Absolutely right - after all, you wouldn't expect anyone who knew what they were doing to linger with Nikon for too long ;) hence the generally more knowledgeable and more proficient photographer that hangs out here (myself obviously excluded).

Have you thought about PX? Out of interest, what's the Lens range like with Nikon?
