The other day the B&H Used Photo Gear Department (external link) gave me the incredible opportunity to make a LensCoat (external link) for the one of the longest and rarest full auto focus lenses in the world. (external link) It was quite an experience working with a lens that when in it's case wouldn't fit in the back of my 4Runner without putting the seats down. Of course I told B&H that it was extremely critical that I field test the LensCoat to make sure it performs properly . With my insurance agent standing close by I deftly maneuvered this 38in long 36.4lb monster around my backyard in search of worthy subjects (birds and bunnies.) It's a good thing the 5dmk2 I borrowed had a camera strap on it.

This lens doesn't come with IS or DI (Image Stabilization or Disability Insurance) so I soon opted for a a sturdy tripod.

Juan Pons and Art Howard were on hand to see and video the "Making of the 1200mm LensCoat (external link)" BTW- the video was shot with the 5dmk2

Crazy lens. I'd have been as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs, knowing how much that thing costs. Did you snag a duck pic with it? :D

That lens is just too big to even use. I think even if I had the cash, I would just pay an animal trainer to teach the animals to get closer.

You are holding 123,000 dollars in your hands.
Almost 124,000 if you include shipping.
And you don't own any of it.
I would be too scared to do that.
Wow.
