Hey.

Well i've calibrated my Dell 3008 with a spyder3 Elite, and all teh light colours look a little reddish.

Anyone know how to fix this? Run the calibration like 5 times with all the same result.

Thanks

Might be that you are just used to the screen being to blue?

Lol, no there is a definite red cast.

Ok after a little more testing here is what im finding.

When i open up a blank canvas in photoshop and fill it with

R - 128
G- 128
B - 128

Everything looks fine, its a nice dark grey.

When i move up to around

242
242
242

Thats when i notice a red tint to the canvas.

It goes to white again at 255, 255, 255

Is the monitor faulty?

...Is the monitor faulty?

I've adopted the following method when using the Spyder3 Elite:

I make sure it's plugged into a direct motherboard USB connection, not a remote USB hub or the USB outlet on the monitor itself.

I turn off all lights and draw the window blinds/shades. I only calibrate when the sun is not directly on my office windows.

I have rich reddish wood office furniture, so I rigged a home-made monitor hood to reduce color reflection (and glare). I also wear a gray t-shirt when calibrating so there's no color reflection from my clothing.

I reset all monitor settings to factory default. The video card settings also remain at default.

I calibrate with no other setting besides the monitor's Brightness control. In the initial Spyder3 setup, I tell the software I only have a Backlight control, no Contrast, no RGB controls.

I use Native/2.2.

I have calibrated 3 Dell Ultrasharp LCDs and have gotten excellent results from the Spyder2 Pro and Spyder3 Elite. No color casts, neutral grays.

When I first started using my i1d2, my impression was that everything had a pink tinge, but I have got used to it and looking at the screen as I type this everything looks perfectly normal.

What colour temp are you using? I use 6500 degK now, but have gone as high as 7000 and as low as 5500.
