What he said.

Damned thing had warts and everything... :p

Mark, regarding TV's, go check out the Panasonic stuff. After much research and an extensive opportunity to check out the whole range, we've a Panasoinc plasma here now. Make sure you get the full 1080p one though, not the HD ready or 720p ones.

Can't use the 1080p unless you've got a blu-ray player or plan on getting one tho ;)

Or a 5D2, or one of god knows how many other readily available full HD devices coming on stream currently. It's more of a case of 'it's the way it's going so don't buy twice' than anything.

Cheers, Dave.

One day when I'm rich and famous I'm going to get a decent Full HD TV.
I have a Blue ray Sony Playstation, but an ancient TV.
But It works, so why replace it.
I find it hard to throw things away that still work OK.

hehe

so I'm looking at a new tv.. after doing some research it seems lcd is good up to 32" above that go a plasma. Funny, I've been looking at lcd's and never really been impressed, always seem to be unsharp and have lag. Saw a 42' plasma tonight and got a bit wowed after looking at lcd's... I think I'm sold;)

LCD and Plasma both have advantages and disadvantages. Now if you want the latest and greatest (and most expensive) have a look at the new LED models from Samsung and Sony. They are nice!

If it were me, I'd make sure whatever I got had a built in freeview HD decoder in it too. (Most, but not all, do these days)

Not quite true. Well mastered DVDs upscaled to 1080P with a good DVD player, or amp with a good scaler chip look pretty good. Thats why I still buy\rent some DVDs, and only the occasional Blu-Ray. 1080P is also much better if you want to plug a PC into it.

That is why I don't watch alot of TV. I have a few shows I record but not many. I even prefer to watch TV shows on DVD  No ads and better picture and sound quality. And if I don't want to wait till next week to watch the next episode I don't have to.

Yes I like how series are now out on DVD. We are after Battlestar Galactica series 2 but $80 for the DVD set. Oh well once all the rates are paid for and power bill is reduced

I have all 4 BSG series you can borrow. (You are shopping at the wrong place if you pay $80 for series 2!) I'm just waiting for Series 4 part 2 to comeout next month to complete the set. I'm planning to watch the whole thing again when I'm off work :p

Impressive sky. I like that fishing photo. Interesting perspective.
I take it it was from a bridge.

Thank you Peter.

Yes it was. I must thank my mate for lending me his toy while I don't have one. Yep, that was taken from the Waimak bridge. Reasonably far to the water.

Budget lunch idea - 2 min noodles with chili sauce, and black pepper. Quite tasty.

Cheers, Shane.
