I don't watch tele at all. Big film buffs though so we have the projector in the media room, 110" goodness :) Have had various projectors for about 7 years now, could never go back... just something to be said for share size ;)

It streams media from the server at 720P which makes a pretty stunning image.

Jealous!

But I'm sorry 720P is not HD, there really is no point in buying a 720p tv either, it isn't that much better than SD, which makes Freeview HD pointless!

Ummm Freeview is 720p and Sky HD is 720p. The jump between SD and 720p is much much larger than 720 to 1080p (roughly double the visual impact). Not to mention Sky and Rreeview are relatively low bitrate compared to a disc etc.

Projector @ 720p @ 100 inches is always better for movies than a 42-50" full HD plasma any day provided its a decent projector such as a Runco's and the like.

the jump from SD to 1080p is a much better/worth it 720 is just a waste of time. and the compression of Sky HD is ridiculous I can't remember what bit rate it is broadcasting in but I know it's lower than Free to air SD

I'm representing the Kiwi bunch over here in Europe, so you can come and visit me then.

Jealous.

Hi Kurgan.

I was going to ride my first BMX race on Sunday, but I think I messed it up for myself as I went in a running race last night. 6.7 KM with over 30,000 other runners! Samba bands etc. Was quite a buzz. But I HATE running, so I never do it. I managed the 6.7 KM in about 38 minutes, but now I can't walk. I'm a mess. And I had shorts on that chafed my inner thigh. It's completely red and swollen.

In German they say "Sport ist Mord" = Sport is murder!

That's not a bad time, especially when you don't run often! Good luck for your BMX if you injuries subside before then. One of my friends is a top triathlete/runner (going to Worlds in a few months) and can do 10K in about 30 minutes.

Bloody H!!
I Never run. I think the last time I trained was 2 years ago.. maybe more.
What is frustrating, is that my time wasn't officially registered. Grrr. It was bucketing down with rain, and a pretty impressive thunder storm, and the time measuring system didn't manage to pick up all the runners. I was one of the unfortunate few that didn't get registered. Lucky I used the stopwatch on my watch or I wouldn't know my time at all.

He could always just visit the smallest most boring town in the US and pretend he's been to New Zealand.

And Love it :)

Its just a second lounge closed off from the rest of the house with the projecter, some big feck off audio gear, a Wii, a 360, and xbox 1 and a ps2 with buzz and eye toy and a steering wheel and guitar hero and mics for singstar and dance mat and balance board and a server with 2TB storage that streams everything to the projector LOL Needless to say its my favoutite room in the house. We have movie/games nights 2 - 3 times a week depending on what shifts we are on etc. Playing wii at that size is crazy fun :) Racing games on the 360 at that size with the steering wheel is an experience in itself too :)

I WANNA GO HOME!!!! :(

You wouldn't like to top your system off with a new receiver would you? Nice shiny Arcam AVR350, 2 years old and totally stunning ;)

.... but now I want a projector...

They are amazing I used to have a cinema room in the UK, Sony Ruby 1080p projector, 650w (true power) SVS sub which I had shipped over from the states and a rolling selection (changed every 2 weeks or so) of DVD players and AMPs all on a 10 foot electric screen, sweet.

Moved over here and never really watch movies or TV anymore

sounds like the bomb. to tell the truth I've never 'wanted' a projector, ofcourse if I won lotto I'd do it just because I could. call me a simple man, but I just couldn't justify it, not to mention it wouldn't fit in my little house;)
