So here's a rule of thumb... if you primarily use a full frame camera, you won't like the 7D unless you photograph in a lot of dark places like wedding receptions. There's no need for everyone to say the same thing. If you use a crop body, you will probably like the 7D.
Probably true, though after a couple of hours more messing about today, I still don't think the reason I don't gel with it has anything to do with the sensor size.
I freaking love the level on the rear screen though, just for the Star Wars effects value!

I was considering the options for a full frame camera but understand that Canon may be working on a replacement for the 1DsMk3 - anyone know about that? Timeline maybe? Is there a site I can reference?
NOT a serious indication, but the dude I speak to at Canon was on about this today, and how there's huge rumours about both 1D and 1Ds being zapped shortly. If you can sit on your hands for a bit, then wait for anything new to actually exist (so six months then! :lol
I would. Honestly though, I haven't got any insider info...
PMSL!
Panasonic GF1 arrived today, the Olympus Pen competitor. Blows seven shades of hell out of the Pen, lovely thing, and the wee 20mm f/1.7 is very nice. They just need another flat lens, slightly wider.
