That's a hell of a lot of driving.

Yep

Thursday = CHCH drive to Timaru (2hrs) then off to the lake and back (2.5hrs) (Thursday)
Friday = Timaru to Greymouth ( 5 hrs ) spend night. I want to see Arthurs pass.
Saterday = Greymouth to CHCH (3 hrs) leave at 5.30pm back to Ack

Anyone else think of a better plan for Friday?

I like the look of the 18x10, but they're harder for me to design. I have a 50 page digital 18x12, massive thing that is, quite impressive when you had it to customers.

I didnt find the design too much harder - it was just different obviously :) I did it as a Duo as well. I originally did it as a 18x12 and then decided to go for something a bit different, so adapted it to fit an 18x10. Is it 25 pages (50 sides)? QB only do up to 30 pages in one album dont they?

That's a book... an album is a lot more substantial. Books are WAY cheaper.

Ok, that's a book, and album is better, what's the crap that digitalmax drops out called then?

QB do 60 pages in an album. Pages are numbered like the dictionary, ie a side is a page.

I love shopping! :)

I was considering the options for a full frame camera but understand that Canon may be working on a replacement for the 1DsMk3 - anyone know about that? Timeline maybe? Is there a site I can reference?

CanonRumors.com sais end of January. See HERE (external link)

So here's a rule of thumb... if you primarily use a full frame camera, you won't like the 7D unless you photograph in a lot of dark places like wedding receptions. There's no need for everyone to say the same thing. If you use a crop body, you will probably like the 7D.

Probably true, though after a couple of hours more messing about today, I still don't think the reason I don't gel with it has anything to do with the sensor size.

I freaking love the level on the rear screen though, just for the Star Wars effects value! :D

NOT a serious indication, but the dude I speak to at Canon was on about this today, and how there's huge rumours about both 1D and 1Ds being zapped shortly. If you can sit on your hands for a bit, then wait for anything new to actually exist (so six months then!) I would. Honestly though, I haven't got any insider info...

PMSL!

Panasonic GF1 arrived today, the Olympus Pen competitor. Blows seven shades of hell out of the Pen, lovely thing, and the wee 20mm f/1.7 is very nice. They just need another flat lens, slightly wider. :D

Cheers, Dave.

Yep that's what i was referring to :) In their price list it says "max is 30 pages (60 sides)"
so they refer sides rather than pages

Well we hope for the best. Could look at the following places.

We have booked for 1 night in Timaru (thursday) be there by 1pm want to go to Lake Teapo that afternoon / evening.

Saterday is for ChCh

So Greymouth for Friday?

What time do you fly into Chch? You may be better off going to Tekapo on the way down? Depends on when you need to check into your accommodation I suppose.

I would forget about Greymouth unless there is some fantastic job on offer. It is the pits!!

I do have a brother that works in Greymouth, for a mining company. Tried to sell, got himself a job back with Air NZ in Christchurch but could not sell in Greymouth so had to go back, couldn't afford both mortgages.

Weather also doesn't look too flash for going over the passes, unless you've got a 4WD &/or familiar with driving in icy conditions, I would be tempted to keep off them.

Only lasted minutes, looked out the window, left dinner on the table, put on jacket, drove to the beach, took shots, bitter bitter cold wind, dinner cold when I got back. :)
