So where are we up to with the Auckland xmas bbq? Getting things organised these days is like hurding cats :)

you dont herd cats - you just make noise opening the food container!
(so you should have no trouble getting ppl to show up for a bbq lol)

7D photo. Very impressed with the camera, focus and speed is almost as good as the 1D mkII. The only issue is raw and waiting for lightroom to catch up.

Looks like I missed a pretty good day to go shooting things....

Yep, fairly good day. I met two members that I had met before, all good (except for the bl**dy sandfly bites :()

However, your input was missed.

Was the best one I've ever been to.

My first GKPE was the best one I had been to as well (until the next one ;))

You could say the same thing about a lot of "firsts"

Nice photo, looks like the focus is spot on.
Sounds like you need to upgrade you computer to match the new camera.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Brand new PC, lightroom 7d support is beta and not very good. This was shot as a jpeg.

Really?
What sort of spec computer?
I can't imagine beta support making the processing and previewing slow.

I have a vague memory of people using LR having to generate some kind of previews before they start using things. With bridge it's easier... I like simple!

LR generates previews in different quality settings the same way Bridge does, however, unlike bridge, it has the ability to generate full 1:1 previews.

The preview generation is very CPU intensive, and the current generation of cameras with high res 14bit files need a powerful CPU for the previews to be generated quickly.
Fortunately under windows it is multi-threaded, so a quad core is ideal and the new i7/i5 processors are perfect. They will generate previews as fast as you can view them.
An dual core, or core 2 duo however will leave you waiting, no matter how fast it is.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Brilliant photo - I love it - what kind of lens are you using on the 7D for that?
