I like Toyotas, they just work.

Millions of recalls and law suits would beg to differ. :p

It was more about having enough physical space for 3 kids plus all the crapola that goes with it. The Vectra is wide enough (just) to fit 3x carseats across, but the mondeo I think is about 100mm narrower so definately a no go there. Being able to have a little grumpy person in a seperate row from the two others would be nice, as would being able to transport someone without having to remove carseats. The other vehicle I've had a quick look at is a Santa Fe but they seem to be more expensive for some reason.

do they come with 7 seats?

Look for a Honda stream, 3 rows of seats.

So long and thanks for all the flash

Got a quick quizzy for any of you that have ever sold prints of their photos.

I've got 2 situations, one being a friend who wants to buy some of my SI trip photos, 2 block mounted on canvas and one on decent photo paper. I'm not going to charge her much more than the printing and postage costs, my question is do I discreetly put my name on the prints (as a form of advertising) as I'm sure others will see the photos?

Not in my opinion, unless there is a label of some kind under the photo where you can add sub-text. Copyright law covers public display, but I assume your friend would want them for private use/display, so it would be up to you.

Paulos75 wrote in post #10111131 (external link)
The other one is for work and is a bit different. Our relatively new office walls are a bit sparse and they're wanting some photos to liven up the place. They're looking at some photos that I took recently for a work NZTA tender which I took and processed during work hours, the only thing that work didn't pay for was the use of my gear. They have also expressed an interest in putting some of my other photos up (primarily SI trip photos, but not limited to)
Now my intention with these is not to make a quick buck, but rather get some of my stuff out on display (to we get all sorts coming through our offices).
What are my rights as far as the work tender photos go?

Unless you contracted otherwise, copyright belongs to the person/company who commissioned the photos. You can't demand for your name to be on these photos as you don't own the copyright.

Paulos75 wrote in post #10111131 (external link)
If work pays for the printing of any personal photos, assuming that they're not going to pay for any rights, what are my rights if any to those prints?

These photos are obviously covered by your personal copyright.
You can transfer any part of copyright you like to the company. Their default rights to the photos are whatever you agree on. Verbal agreement is technically binding, but you should definitely get it in writing what they're allowed to do with the photos, and make it clear that you retain copyright with only limited rights transferred to them (if that's what you want of course).
You have the right to have your name put on your copyrighted work displayed in public.

Paulos75 wrote in post #10111131 (external link)
The impression that I get is that they're going to want to cycle photos putting fresh ones up every once in a while.
The same question with the photos for work, do/can I put my name on the prints?

Any suggestions on how I should proceed with this?
Cheers

As above. You should contract everything in writing, to avoid confusion later.

If you own the copyright, you can demand your name is displayed, if you don't own the copyright, there's nothing to stop you asking anyway ;)

:p:p

I was trying to think of a 7 seat Mazda, or Mazda wagon thats bigger than the Mondeo and couldn't.
The Toyotas are ok, but the current stuff doesn't have anything in the line up as nice the Accord.
Post Renult Nissans (the ones worth owning) are very limited in whats on offer. They cut right back on the variety of cars.
Mitsubishi's are nothing exciting or even interesting, or even worth owning. The GDi motors are unreliable and very expensive to fix.

There are some 7 seater Volvos, but start to get into problems with parts and high services costs etc.

7 Seats either means getting a big ugly, expensive and dangerous 4WD, or a Jap import.
The best of the imports are the 2.0L Honda Streams or the Honda Odyssey.
The Mazda Premacy is badly outdated, and under powered (shame there is no people mover based on the Mazda 6).
Same with Nissan, Toyota and Mitsi equivalents, unless you can find a nice 2.0L or 2.4L Toyota Ipsim or Wish. But they are simply not as good as the Honda's, and much harder to find in good condition.

I spent a lot of time at the end of last year looking for a similar sized car for my mother. Only she needs the space to carry BloKarts not people

One of these would do the same job as a Territory, and is a decade more advanced for similar money: http://www.trademe.co.nz …eca/auction-282270974.htm (external link)

cheers for the info Moppie, although we're looking at a budget approx half that...

e.g. http://www.trademe.co.nz …ory/auction-287347416.htm (external link)

oh well, will see what comes along. If all else fails, either a commodore or falcon is wide enough - just the wagons look like hearses.

hey, if you've got the seats, you may as well fill 'em. ;)

What about this (external link) then? Means you can have a 'few' more.

These fit right into your price range: http://www.trademe.co.nz …sey/auction-269642488.htm (external link)

Or one of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz …eam/auction-277178580.htm (external link)

If you don't mind the service costs: http://www.trademe.co.nz …C70/auction-270808272.htm (external link)

If you want a Toymota: http://www.trademe.co.nz …sum/auction-287686469.htm (external link)

I know some of the Falcon Station Wagons had a 3rd row seating option in the back perfect for young kids.
You might be able to retrofit a second hand car.
But, the Falcon Wagons are VERY outdated, about 3 chassis generations behind the sedan. They are a bit like driving a water bed with soft suspension. The handling is scary bad.

The Commodore wagons are a bit better sorted (based on the current chassis) and have copied the Accord Wagon style boot which opens in a really short space for some time now.

Hmmm... let me think. Nope - can't see it fitting into the carpark at work. :p

thanks, I'll have a looksee at some of those mentioned to see how much room they got.

I've spoken to the folks that make these today: http://www.retrovehicle.co.nz/thirdrowseating.html (external link)
and for between $2k7 and $3k it opens up a whole heap of other potential models.

Thats very cool.
It makes a Mazda 6 Wagon, or an Accord Wagon a very usable choice (especially the V6 Accord Wagon http://www.trademe.co.nz …ier/auction-287148166.htm (external link), they are huge in the back).
Or, if your feeling boring a Toyota Avensis Station Wagon, based on the Camry that isn't a Camry.
Or, for something a bit more fun to drive, one of these: http://www.trademe.co.nz …28i/auction-285991050.htm (external link)

I believe that last advert has an error Moppie... it appears to say '28' after the 5 instead of '40'... ?!
