I believe that last advert has an error Moppie... it appears to say '28' after the 5 instead of '40'... ?!

Yeah, they are a bit hard to find though. Most of them just 25 after the first 5.
The ones that say 28 are more than capable as family transport though.

What you really want is one that has a M, followed by a single 5. But I'm not sure if they ever got sold outside of Europe in flying brake form.

So long and thanks for all the flash

It could. It could also be a very big bill waiting to go bang! ;)

And that version 5 was never made as an M5 estate/wagon.

Cheers, Dave.

Better off with a 340 conversion ;)

Quite a few people seem to be doing that lately with good success, all the power without the weight and size. Such a nice platform both the 3 and 5 series BMW, I would buy one in a heartbeat if I had a real use for one.

Everyone has a use for a decent BMW. Preferably sideways whilst still looking dignified... ;)

Anyway, we'll get moaned at soon for this becoming a car forum again, so better talk about cameras again.

Any of you guys using bodies for video, I presume you're aware of the impending film festival in Palmy, with guest speaker being none other than Vincent LaForet, the man who kicked up a storm shooting the video with the 5D2 just before release?

Cheers, Dave.

A bit more than just an Audi engine, they both share the same VAG platforms which encompasses basic chassis design and drive train.

Hmmm... let me think. Nope - can't see it fitting into the carpark at work. :p

thanks, I'll have a looksee at some of those mentioned to see how much room they got.

I've spoken to the folks that make these today: http://www.retrovehicle.co.nz/thirdrowseating.html (external link)
and for between $2k7 and $3k it opens up a whole heap of other potential models.

Quite co ol, but gettin or out would be difficult. Particularly if you put Grandma and Grandpa back there ;)

My ex neighbour had one of those. He chip tuned it too!
I can remember being particularly impressed when he took me for a ride in it to show what it could do on those wonderful German autobahns without a speed limit. What particularly blew me away was changing from 5th into 6th gear at about 260 km h! After that we had to break pretty hard as someone was reversing towards us in our lane.

you're probably right - bit like getting in & out of the back seat of a 2-door coupe. Kids, however are a different story - you can open the back door and fling 'em over the top of the seat... :p

this got listed today - check out the 3rd row: http://www.trademe.co.nz …Listing.aspx?id=288336337 (external link)
