I just picked up my second D700, 70-200 F2.8 VR, and second SB900 from Dave, after parting with enough money to buy a small car even after the rather substantial discount Dave gave me. Everything seems to work well, it seems to focus where I tell it, when I tell it to, and I can hand hold to about 1/15th though at that speed I need to take a few photos just to cover myself.

It came with a 4GB 200X Lexar CF card, which I won't use. If anyone here wants it let me know before I list it on trademe. Retail is $78 from Photo Warehouse, I think it's worth maybe $50.

You mean some consumer fluff, proper implementation of a flip out screen on a DSLR, a re-furb of some classic lenses and a really cool lens that doesn't know if it is an ultra wide or a fish eye?

So long and thanks for all the flash

ok - I'm sure the new white paint on the 1.4x TC III will make all the difference in the world...

(or maybe we're just not gearheads!)

:D

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

That would do 9.5 fps if you could find a buffer big enough and fast enough to clear it.

I can't imagine what nearly 6 times my current max resolution would be like.
I suspect I would be shooting everything with a 24mm lens and doing lots of cropping.
I also suspect I would be renting server farm space from Weta just to process the RAW's.

So long and thanks for all the flash

It's interesting eh, I suspect most of those lenses will be of little or no use to most of us, but I think it's positive they've been brought out, even if it only means it's aligning stuff to allow further developments in bodies.

The W/A zoom isn't the 14-24 I'd hoped, but is, for what it is a clever idea and I guess a very useful lens. I also thought the 60D was a total 'meh' item when I first looked at it, but I then spent a good few hours this morning reading through the small print and going over it with a 50D and 7D in hand figuring out how the changes work, and I suspect it's going to be a lot more useful to the market that will buy it than innitially seems the case. I suspect actually, Canon might have a sleeper there which will prove to be a very shrewd idea...

Proof in the point that reading press releases at work is useful as by this afternoon I'd had a very well read and knowledgable 'nerd' in asking questions who's ordered one already... ;)

Still nothing though which floats my boat... Frankly, unless it's FF or has bugger all depth of field, I'm not interested. :p

Cheers, Dave.

The 60D has no PC sync socket, they're trying to get enthusiasts and professionals to buy more expensive cameras.

Narrow DOF doesn't make a good photo. That's one reason I liked crop bodies, more DOF. I might get a crop body some time, for the 70-200 at receptions.
