I will be shooting intersections & streets. Not an artistic endeavor. Need to capture both corners of a standard intersection with any signs or signals located at each corner. so detail is preferred. I have a 50mm and a 28-135 lens, not sure if that is good enough. I will be using canon 50D.

What you have is fine for what your going to be doing. If you need something wider and don't want to spent too much, pick up a Tokina 12-24mm. You can get a good deal on the used market.

You'll likely be using a tripod, and needing depth of field, so stopped down aperture will be in order. So, your current zoom should be in its sharp zone (but, you'll lose sharpness if you stop down too far). Image quality probably will be appropriate, assuming, 45mm eq. is wide enough. Which it may not be. Don't forget to turn off IS when using the tripod.

Man..all of the above is great advice. I really appreciate it. I will definately get a wide angle for later similar work but maybe try to maximize my current lens capabilities for this particular task.

As long as you're shooting in daylight, the Canon 18-55 IS would be a good choice. Very sharp, good IS, and it's cheap.
