This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #195".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This round will end Friday June 19th 00:00 am (midnight) PST USA.

The number code is next to the box where you need to type it in (Its not my system but that of megaupload.) And its not a RAW file but a full size .JPG.

I am a little confused -- you can't do adjustments on any levels?

You have the .JPG that you edit. You may edit this in any way like.

Myself lagging behind in my Photoshop skills, I failed terribly in isolating the sky in PS. The reason I point this out, is when in Lightroom I pulled back on the exposure, I saw a lot of cloud detail and even a little blue sky, but it was so close to being blown you would really want to double process the image or at least select the sky out to process with a heavy adjustment layer to do it justice.

But my selection skills suck, so I reverted back to Lightroom to do the best I could for a compromise, which will lack somewhat but:

I pulled the exposure back almost 2 stops and slid the highlight Recover up all the way to 100, and pulled back on the highlight tone bar part of the way, all to bring some of the gloomy light out of the sky.

I raised the Fill Light to 89, the brightness up to +54, and the Shadows tone to +57 to bring as much of the underexposed areas to a measure of light.

I moved Contrast up to 82, Clarity to 87, Vibrance to +67 and saturation to +12 in order to make it less flat in either tone or color.

Finally, I increased Saturation for Red, Orange, Aqua and Blue, with an increase of luminance for green to lighten the trees and a decrease of Luminance for Blue to try (without much success) to bring some blue out in the little blue in the sky.

Also, I cropped, did a little straightening to get the building a bit straighter, and cloned the corner of grass out of the bottom.

Someone more proficient with LR will, like I said, be able to bring out the sky, with a better all around result in the balance of the image, but at least I tried:).

And, here it is:

Couldn't decide what to do with it, but here goes:
-Removes CA around trees
-Made it rainy via layers filled with Gaussian noise, motion blur and set to screen.
-Black and why conversion
-Cloned out cars, sings, bin, etc...
-Contrast increased via USM
-Sharpened via highpass filer set to overlay
-Cropped to my liking

Tinypic killed it pretty bad, I'll try and host it somewhere better if I can get it to upload :(
