The Olympus E-P1 has been officially announced. It looks like a winner to me. I'm eyeing it up to use as compact camera... when the price has come down (£750 with 17mm 2.8 pancake lens). It would be great to have SLR performance in such a compact body

I know this is a Canon G series forum but I think this will give the G series serious competition. Size wise with the pancake lens it looks v.similar to the current G series. I personally would take a bigger sensor and have the option of changing lenses over the smaller sensor and convenient zoom range of the G10.
Would you? Anyone else interested in the E-P1? The obvious downside is that you're essentially investing in a 2nd SLR system.. For me though I think the viewfinder add on, pancake lens & a zoom lens would suffice.
It's due out in July for the U.S i believe. Not sure for Europe. I'll have to wait for the price to come down a bit. Also in July Samsung are supposed to be officially announcing the 'Samsung NX' which is a mirrorless SLR like the E-P1, Panasonic GH1 etc but sports an APS-C sensor and EVF. I'm quite eager to see how that fairs against the E-P1.

- if so....hmmmmmm
