The E-P1 is great.. it just begs to be taken out, whereas with a SLR you usually have to think about it. It has definitely taken over the P&S's duties and is encroaching a little on what I would usually pull out the XSI for.

I think you may have confirmed for me that I can't pick the m4/3 to be my only camera, sadly. At least not yet. Maybe when the system matures a little. I suppose I could justify using the body for HD video. If you add up the price of an HD camcorder + a nice compact, the pricetag of the GF1 is not so bad! Taylor

Great little camera, very convenient and gets a lot of use because of that, and HD video is a great bonus. The 5D, 40D and lenses aren't going away anytime soon though, and probably never will (just replaced by other DSLRs and lenses

Jacket pocket (as in cold weather jacket, not dinner jacket) with pancake lens is definitely doable. Cargo pants pocket too. As for GF1 being a lot lighter, maybe subjectively for some people. Per specs though there's not a massive difference: 12.5 oz vs. 11.1 oz. After you stick the same lens on both the overall impact of that weight difference becomes even smaller.

That was part of my internal rationalization, I was thinking of getting a body that can shoot video, and I also was thinking about getting a P&S - the E-P1 is cheaper than a 5Dmk2 and G11 so I'm ahead of the game, lol. GF1 is certainly attractive, and the buzz is that the Panny AF is faster. But I'm happy with the E-P1, and really value the in-body IS. The IS will be usable with a huge number of manual focus lenses, and the in-body IS also lets Olympus offer smaller lenses than Panny, size being my main reason for getting the Pen. Dean

Maybe it's just best to get an M9 and learn to do the hyperfocal style of shooting. Ms.Jannie

Just think, if we REALLY wanted a Leica over such a long period of time, we would have saved up for it. Just my thoughts...
