Dear lord it destroys it at high iso... iso 2400 (see here)
http://www.imaging-resource.com …/YEP1P6160179_ISO2500.HTM (external link)
looks better on the Oly than iso 800 on the Canon.

And with the 17mm pancake it doesn't look much bigger. see below link

Which canon are you talking about? The G10/9?

Looking at the ISO 1600 and 2500 samples, I would say it is still about 1-1.5 stops behind Canon aps-c SLRs.

I'm talking about the G9/G10,,,, the olympus isn't a dslr so I'm not going to compare it to one. But to compared to other compacts like the G9 so far it seems superior.

I dunno, the line is kind of blurry. Larger sensor + interchangeable lenses means it sort of competes with the XSI as much as the G10 don't you think?

Not really; it's not an SLR and I suspect the performance regarding FPS and autofocus speed, etc, just wont be able to compete with an XSi. I think it will compete more directly with the G10 which is essentially the same size with its lens extended. The Canon G10 offers different lenses for the G9 as well but the Olympus solution is simply done better imo.

I'm also very intrigued by this...

I'd like a wider fast pancake (12mm?).
I'd like one in all black.
I'd like it for ~$600 with the lens (ideally $500, but with the G10 and LX3 selling there this will be more).

but yeah, I'm very curious to see how they do IRL and see how small they actually are in person.

i don't know about the first two questions but i would expect a pretty nice price drop over the next year... I can almost guarantee sub $600 pricing fairly soon.

I'm very interested once this camera gets released into the public to see what it's like. Right now i have a Ricoh GRDII as a point and shoot which is great, love the size, But the E-p1 with that m4/3 sensor and interchangeable lens might get me to switch

It's rumoured that Oly are working on another micro 4/3 similar to the E-P1 but this will have an EVF and built in flash.

It's still rumours but I've found the sites i've followed to be quite accurate generally

I might jump, IF Oly release this camera in black or black leatherette. Silver and white?!? Really?

I just saw a RAW converted ISO 6400 photo and I really couldn't see a difference between it and the 5D at 12,800. This is a cool camera!
