I really like this shot. I like the low shooting angle too. Personally I think it would be even more dramatic if higher contrast. Great shot. For example but maybe not quite this contrasty...the hightlights are blowing out now:

a tad easier on the red channel here. The image is a little too soft to my liking, especially with a spectacular model like this. The highlights are blown almost beyond saving which looks like is the effect of PP. If you post a slightly larger shot in color I think I could do a little better job on the edit and share some tips as well. But the angle is great and the expression is genius!

Thank you for spending some time on this picture guys. I am learning so much from the great members of this forum.

I think the softness got killed during the resize for posting I did at work. It looks sharper at full size. It was taken with a 50D and a 60mm macro. I agree about giving the image more contrast, nice edits here. The conversion was done in DPP I probably should have went a little farther and taken it into CS3. My grandfather always tends to look very good in B/W conversions. Although, he does not understand why I change it to B/W when my "fancy camera has such nice colors":) Gotta love the guy.

I will post a link to the full size picture when I get home tonight. I would love to see what you come up with and I appreciate all the tips and suggestions.

Thanks again.

James

Nicely done! nice clean background, powerful composition.
Maybe crop out some of the negative space at top.
I like the origional better without all the contrast adjustments.

striking picture indeed, he reminds me of the BFG from the Roald Dahl books (Well at least what I imagined him to look like!)

Just a channels conversion to B&W, with a very slight added touch of sepia toning. Slight sharpening for display.

Very nice conversion Whitedog, I think the slight sepia tone is just what the image needed. After thinking about it I am going try and clean up the dog hair on his shirt before I print it and hang it.

Oh, I forgot...I had already removed the hair, on a separate layer. Yes, it made a huge difference:

Thanks Soliz...appreciate the compliment. But it wouldn't have been possible without the awesome photograph from James.
