I've been told I'm lucky to have seen one of these gorgeous secretive birds let alone get a shot at one. I took this at Presque Isle State Park in Erie, PA on June 13th. Gotta say, I'm loving the new 500!

Very nice photograph of a beautiful bird, I'd love to get an opportunity on one of these. Great job on this Michele.

Very nice catch Michele! I was lucky enough to see and photograph a Yellow-billed Cuckoo for the first time a couple weeks ago but my shot wasn't near as good as yours.

Thank you all very much for your kind comments. I've been back to the spot where I shot this several times since then to no avail. I've even learned to do a mean Cuckoo call, in hopes of calling him out. Hopefully no one will happen upon the trail as I'm calling :) and see what a cuckoo I am.

Wow, he is a real beauty. I must have been 20 before I understood that a Cuckoo did not really live in a clock. :)
