Here are a few of my shots from the outing with Shirley (booswalia). It was a pure privilege to see and photograph these amazing birds.

#1 A backlit full body shot.

#2 One of them did land out in a better lit area, however the high Sun made for harsh light.

#3 Even though there is no eye contact, I like this one for what appears to be an intense look. Mainly took it to show how close they were, this is uncropped with the 400L.

#4 Almost full frame portrait

IMAGE: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e286/bromm/DPP_2801.jpg

#5 Used the on-board flash for some fill on this one

IMAGE: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e286/bromm/DPP_2797.jpg

#6 another portrait

IMAGE: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e286/bromm/DPP_2800.jpg

#7 and finally the Baby, it looked a lot cuter from farther away.lol.

It was amazing how the Owls were not bothered by us. Thanks for looking.

These are very nice Trevor, the baby would look better with the eyes open! But I guess you can't have everything. Great portrait shots!

Nice work, Trevor. We're going to have a hard time topping that now. I'm still on an Owl high. :)

#3 is the best owl shot I have ever seen. That poor baby looks bug ridden. Poor guy.

Thanks folks, I appreciate you looking and commenting.

Shirley I am still smiling over this encounter.See :D

Thanks Mitch, I tried to get it to turn the head a little more towards me, but it ignored me completely. And as far as bug ridden...I actually cloned out two mosquitoes that were on its head. We had a major rainfall a week ago and the bugs are making the best of it.

Thanks to everyone.

Beautiful shots Trevor! The only time I've seen these owls was at the rehab area in the wildlife sanctuary.

How about a little sympathy for Trevor and I. We looked much worse than that. :)

Yes, but did you share your repellant with him? Remember, he has no hands to swat them with and he's just a baby. Poor things eyes are red and look like they have bugs on the lids. :(

By the way, have you heard of anything called a "French Glaze" up there? It's an old time bug repellant that is a liquid going on, but then after several layers over time, will build up into a glaze. Although I never used it that much in so short a time. It smells suspiciously like a brand new telephone pole with creosote. Put a drop on the hat brim and around your shirt and pant cuffs and bugs will stay 3 feet away from you.

Bought some in the 60's from LL Bean and used it for 3-4 years then someone stole it from me it was so good. Haven't found any since. :(
