This little fellow has been in our area since a rainy morning in mid April... she started out as one of 5 fox kits that appeared from under a neighbors small barn where they had been whelped by their mother. Two of the kits have since died although, from a distance, all had looked healthy.

This kit is the smallest , has a much shorter muzzle than her mother and siblings. Because of her size, we feel she is probably a female but she provides quite a tussle for the big boys.

We feel that they are now about 3 months old ... They wander all over the neighborhood in the AM hours until about 9:30 as the mother stands watch. Of course they are all of the area at night too and we can occasionally hear them scrapping just right outside the windows. And we never know what we might find on the lawn next morning either ... how about dead baby possums and catfish heads ... all very smelly.

Oops ... Canon 40D, 100-400IS, 1/125, f7.1m, 400mm, ISO 640 in fairly heavy overcast ... I should have been at ISO 1000 as I lost a couple of photos that were blurred a bit when he bounced around.

Ohhh what a cutie. We had some in our neighborhood a few years back, but we always saw them at night and I was never able to get any pictures. Thanks for sharing.
