I have been thinking of getting a precision to focusing screen for both my cameras for a while, but I just don't know if they are worth getting. I am a natural light photographer, so I have only lenses that are f/2.8 and faster (see signature). I use autofocus basically 100% of the time as my eyesight isn't quite perfect and most of my subjects don't sit still or follow directions very well. There are times when my focus is just a little off as a result of me not being able to see the difference and I want to ensure that I will be getting a higher rate of keepers as a result of using a precision screen. So, since I am not manual focusing and I have read that this is where these focusing screens are the most beneficial, would I still benefit from the use of a precision screen or would I just be wasting my money?

In case you were wondering why I put the EG-S screen in the title, I would be investing in this screen first as my 5D MkII is my primary camera now.

Either I posted this question at the wrong time and no one has seen it, or plain and simple no one knows the answer. It is such a same though if know one knows as I am sure that there are others out there who have also thought about this.

I had the version of that screen on my 5D classic and much preferred it. But I also did a lot of manual focusing when shooting flowers and product and it helped me be more precise. I never went back so I don't remember the comparison beyond the fact that I preferred it immediately when I first had it put in.

I have just picked up a Ec-D for my 1DMK11. It's not installed yet but I will let you know if I am happy with it, if you want...

I appreciate it, but I am looking for opinions/facts concerning the precision screen, not the grid screen. Thanks for the offer though!
