Which topaloader fits a 40D body (gripped or ungripped) with a 70-200mm 2.8 IS lens attached (hood reversed)? I am looking for something as compact as possible, just enough to fit the camera and this lens. The 75AW from Lowepro (external link) comes close, but seems to be out of stock everywhere. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked a Tamrac Velocity 8 or 9? I've got an 8...I don't have that body/lens but I'm pretty sure that will fit in at least a 9 if not and 8. Downside is that it's a sling bag gets pretty uncomfortable if you add too much gear.

Toploader 75AW no questions asked. I love the ability to strap on lowepro sliplock pouches / lens pouches / water bottle bags, and the fact that it can hold a 580EXII + stofen out front, and have a small space under that for extra batts / tissues / cloths whatever.

Thanks. I hear it has been replaced by a new model, the PRO 75 AW (external link). Is this the one you have?

Oh, I didn't know they replaced it. No, mine is still the old 75AW non-pro. I think the pro one looks really ugly and fat. The 75AW is V shaped. If you're thinking of the 75AW pro, do check to see if it can store a flash out front. It's the main reason why I chose the 75AW over the thinktankphoto holsters.

Thanks. I agree that it does look a bit fat. I think you can indeed store a flash in the front pocket.

Oh, the bag comes with two divider pads. What I often do is pack a lens in, put one of the dividers above that, and put my camera + mounted lens above that. You can do that with your 10-22 and 24-105L, or something like that. I do it with my 17-40L and 50 1.4.

If you go to the Lowepro web site the difference between the 75 AW and the Pro 75 AW is that the Pro was designed for a Pro DSLR meaning a cam with a built-in grip.

Cheers... jim

B&H marks it as discontinued but they seem to have a preowned one for $79.95...

... and Adorama has the Toploader Pro AW 75 for $69.95, free shipping! Looks nice (I don't work for Adorama or B&H)

If you don't have grip, I much prefer this: http://products.lowepro.com …/Topload-Zoom0AW,2053.htm (external link)

It is exaclty the same as the Street & Field series for much lower price.

I like the Think Tank holster line. My 20 is tight with a 40D& 70-200, but they make several larger sizes.

I use the Lowepro Topload 75 AW for that setup.

I tried out the Lowepro Topload Zoom AW since a B&H rep told me my 50D gripped would fit in... not the case. Very tight fit and the Pro 75 AW was sold out. Needed a case that day so I bought the Tamrac 5630. So far I'm happy with it but would've preferred Lowepro.

Think Tank Holster 50. Holds 40D with grip plus 70-200 with hood reversed OR hood in shooting position. It is the bomb!
