When I think "flower pictures," I really like to see them bright, crisp, loud and jumping off the page with colors.

The fact that this is all green and the shallow DOF makes parts of the flower blurry doesn't help you at all.

I think find a more interesting subject and correct the DOF issue.

Fair comment, I felt it was something stark and different? I admit a bit more DOF would have helped but I like the effect.

What I've done in the past with my work with flowers is do a search for that type of flower, and see how others have done it better than me, and learn from it. I think this one's a challenge due to the presence of primarily green and ambient only light.
