Many of them you'll find will be reflective on the inside of the hood, which kinda defeats the purpose. FS: 85 1.8 w/hood - $300!!!

It fits perfect. the only difference is no felt lining on the inside and if you really study it, it's a little "rough". Not as perfect as the Canon made ones. BUT can you beat $10? I couldn't justify $40. -Andy-

It doesn't *click* into position as nicely as Canon hoods and it's also a little sturdier. The "softer" Canon hoods would act as a better bumper in that they'd absorb impact a little better if you bump it into something. If these things wont bother you and the overall shape and size of the generic hood is the same as OEM, go for it.

Try and get a bayonet mount one. I got a screw on one once, and I wish I didn't. Canon 7D, Canon 30D, Canon 50mm f/1.4, Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8, Canon 70-200 f/4L

It was a generic one for the 28-135 and when mounted, its not in the proper position. It wasn't made right and when fully locked on, its still about a 16th of a turn from being correct. It works fine, but drives me nuts for some reason. 1DmkIV, 5DmkII, 40Dw/grip

It fits fine. No teddy bear fur inside, just flat black paint, but it doesn't reflect so no problem. "Be seeing you."
