I see there has already been another Bonnaroo Music Festival topic started so I figured the more the merrier. 5 days in of mud, torrential rain, heat, sunlight, excess and survival. Day 1 I decided to a little shooting, a lot of figuring out the lay of the land and pretty much get myself into a Roo-Groove.
I could create galleries for every act I shot but I would be posting stuff for a long time. Because I don't have that time I will post galleries for some, daily overview for others. Even though I was working 14+ hour days for 4 straight days I didn't even come close to shooting everyone I wanted to. First rule of Bonneroo is to pace yourself. You need to survive first, make photos later. Midway through the first day the rains came. Hard. Real hard. The festival was under a tornado warning that night and I could only imagine what it would have been like if one actually touched down. If I lived, I was dreading what the camera would be capturing then. I know how to protect my equipment but I wasn't prepared for the amount of rain that fell that night. Between three major thunderstorm bands it rained close to 4 inches.
Anyway, here are some highlights of Day/Night 1. As always comments and critique are welcome.
1. White Rabbits
2. MURS
3. MURS
4. The Knux
5. The Knux
6. Tangiers Blues Band. This band's leader is someone that is probably familiar to most music photographers...Danny Clinch. Danny and I have been in a few publication together and after his set we chewed the fat a little bit. It felt good when he acknowledge that he was a fan of my photos.
7. Zac Brown Band
