Hi All

This 'cute' little bundle of feathers was one of two hatched in one of our lime trees second year running same nest and also a pair last year reared OK ~ its sibling fledged and flew approx 18 hours before this one left, it was gone the morning after I took this. Not the sharpest but one of the best of a mixed bag taken. Their feeding behaviour was wonderfull to watch but never long enough for me to go grab the camera !

:)

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

Pretty decent looking squab. Have you any earlier shots? At a week old they have to be the ugliest creature on the planet :D

Sadly no, though the nest is visble from the ground and I think the first glimpse we had was approx 3 weeks ago and what limited view we had I surmise thay had gotten over the worst of the ugly stage ~ need to recheck if I managed any partial views of them at that time.

The trees need pollarding again this year and even if I ask the tree surgeon to be carefully I doubt the position will be as 'attractive' next year for the loving couple but we shall see. I was wondering if I could somehow setup a mirror to view the nest from groundlevel???

Nice shot. I have never seen a dove nest anywhere near low enough to get a picture of what's in it. They all seem to be very high up here.

Thanks, I do not know how common a site it is to see any of the pigeon family in such close proximity but this nest is approx 12ft up the tree. Te wood pigeon I believe is the biggest of the species in the UK, a large pigeon for sure.

:)

Thanks for looking and the kind comment.

I have had another look through the set and thought this one would be worth showing - this one was taken the day before and like the one above I was struggling for exposure - f6/3, ISO 1600, 1/30 second - as above handheld. (Above EXIF is ISO 800, 1/25, F6.3 ) DoF was the issue I have a good few of the pair but because the DoF was too thin this is one of a couple/few with both in the same plane of focus.

A different angle right under the tree canopy.
