Hi All

Could you please advise me on what your thoughts are on this lens.

As I am a new guy to the Digital SLR world and only have a 17-85 f/4-5.6 lens at the moment and would like to take pictures of Karts on the race track.

Would love help with your thoughts on this lens

Thanks in advance

To be honest with you.......I haven't heard a lot of good things with this lens.

For what its worth......i think the Sigma APO version of this lens might be a better performer.

Reviews aren't great on it, but I have not had a chance to see it in action. A friend of mine has the 75-300 non-IS, non USM and gets good results in good lighting. I just posted to another thread on this very same topic...the 70-200 f4L is pretty much in the same price range...take a look at it as well.

I've got one and it's not a bad lens for the cost considering the reach you get with it and the IS abilities. Check out the pictures I've taken with mine. Use the link below to get to my Photobucket galleries.

I had that lens for years and was never that thrilled with it - film or digital. It was like it just missed the mark, not great but not bad. Finally sold it last month and plan to buy a 70-200 IS. I don't want to settle for 'not bad'. Life is too short to waste time on a just so image. A great idea and a great composition is lost when the lens undermines the final product.

I've never had one, but based on the pictures in this thread, it seems like a cool lens.
