Is there a RAW thumbnail viewer to allow you to see 50D RAW thumbs in windows?

The Canon RAW Codec worked for my 40D on my Vista Laptop, but I can't get it to work on my Windows XP computer.

If I go to my computer, and look at the Raw files on my 50D they show thumbnails. If I copy them, then try to view those same pics from my actual hard drive it wont show thumbnails. Strange, but I use the Canon DPP software all the time, so it doesnt bother me.

PICASA and the associated Picasa Photo Viewer allow to view the raw files (at least Canon's).
It's interpretation (display) of the RAW files is always darker than it's interpretation of the same file in JPEG though.
Now if you use Light Room you will be able to see the RAW files in thumbnails but also to compare them far more easily than with PICASA (the PICASA viewer does not have a tool to compare 2 files side by side for example, comparing pics in Picasa is really a pain in the butt IMO).

How about Canon's zoombrowser that comes free with your camera, not only can you view the RAW thumbnail's but you can view them full screen before conversion - I use this for my initial cull.

Why not give faststone image viewer a try. Is not just a viewer. You can do a lot of other useful actions with it, and it's free!

are they CR2's? I bought this to use with 1DIII files - http://www.ardfry.com/cr2-codec/?src=dlg (external link)

for $30 it saves having to open another package to view stuff...

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Man, I just tried it and it's amazing! I had not even heard that name, ever!
Beats the holy crap out of Picasa!
Thanks for the tip.

It is simply awesome, I've been using it for a few years now... double click, it opens in fullscreen mode (or different if you set it different), move your mouse cursor to the right you get the EXIF and all the other stuff... move the cursor to the top... you get the browser strip... it opens pretty much everything incl. cr2, other raw, and all the other standard and non standard formats... I click the letter "E" and it opens the image in PS or you can set it to whatever...
