What's the most you'd pay (UK Sterling) for a second hand 580EX? Is it worth paying more than you could buy a new 430EX mkII for!?!

When I tried it, I used AA batteries and the recycle time was HORRIBLE. I wondered if the battery pack somehow ruined the capacitors, or whatever. I swore then to never buy a used flash. At least an expensive one.
